Love the contrast. Almost looks like the yellow paint is lifted off the canvas. The white really adds to the overall value of the piece. TEW

About Me:
I graduated from Webster University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Art and was active during that time as a curator for various exhibits. I am currently a facilitator (teaching assistant) for grades K through 5 in the Webster Groves
School District in Saint Louis. I have served with organizations such as Art Dimensions and was elected to serve on the board of directors where I worked to help market other amateur artists by initiating portfolio reviews and subsequent exhibits at galleries, events and other public venues throughout the area. It has been gratifying to witness the artists’ work as they become initially exposed to the public. Through this action I see artists become inspired to further their work.

Today I continually challenge myself to find ways to break away from old techniques while developing a broad visual language and a formula for my art.
Such artists as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mondrian, Kandinsky and Jackson Pollock influence me and I am inspired by their use of color theory, figures and abstract gestures that are placed in each piece. I have noticed when an artist creates their work they attempt a technique which they work by. Using their color palette and a prolific style a unique piece is created. While this process may be refined in the experienced artist, I believe it also exists in a developmental form of every student. It’s the aid in the development of this very unique path that inspires me to become a teacher.

If you're an artist/art student, don't forget to add a brief artist's statement and photos of three of your art works to either your "comment wall" or "text box." This is your basic St. Louis Art Directory information. Later you may add images, videos, post a blog, and much more.
My current non-objective paintings develop a specific visual language that defines subject matter and content. The paintings evolve in layers that vary from thin transparencies to thick gestural forms.

Timothy,

My name is Matt Menietti, the Marketing/Development Coordinator at America SCORES St. Louis.

We’re hosting an art show and fundraiser on March 20, 2010, and would like for you to submit one or more pieces to our event. I’ve included some information below. Please contact me if you have any questions about the project. Thanks in advance!

--Matt

The Inspired Art Project enlists local artists to create and submit original works, inspired by original poetry written by students participating in America SCORES St. Louis. Started by another SCORES affiliate in the Bay Area, the Inspired Art Project is an exciting national model for community collaboration.

On, March 20, 2010, the selected artwork will be collected and displayed at our annual Inspired Art Show. Proceeds from the event will support America SCORES St. Louis, a unique, comprehensive, youth development program which uses the tools of poetry, soccer, creative expression and service-learning to equip and inspire urban youth to lead healthy lifestyles, become engaged students, and grow into leaders for their schools and communities.

Interested artists need to register ASAP in order to submit their work to the event. Artists may choose to collect 25% of the final auction price for their work, or can donate all or a portion of the commission back to America SCORES St. Louis. Other artist benefits include:

• Free admission to the event (includes two complimentary drinks)
• Free guest tickets (up to 3) to the event
• Listing on our event website, www.inspiredartstlouis.org
• Listing in our event program

For more information, please visit www.inspiredartstlouis.org or call Matt at 314-533-0302.

Hi, Tim! I could definitely use some leads for all kinds of things, lol. I've only entered the "exhibit" part of art recently and could use all the help I could get, lol. I've contacted a few galleries from the ArtPatrol site, but none have contacted me back ;)

Hey Tim, thanks for your comments., sorry it took me a while to get back to you. To answer your question, I cropped that one because I wanted to force the viewer to jump into that scene. The other paintings, the way some of them disappear and the way some heads or other body parts are missing, I painted those elements on sudden impulse, based on the moment. That painting and some of the others one were based on my frustrations, silly times, and my fragility of my relationships with the people around me. I checked out your website. Good work, I really enjoy the piece titled B &W #1. In my point of view, I enjoy the way this one and some of the others inquire a struggle of two things, not a bad struggle, but I like the way two polar opposites fit well on the surface. The way you have all that nice built of texture, multiple layers, and at the same time a sort of void is also within the picture. Do the lines represent anything to you, maybe an expression?

Hi Tim,
feel free to ad any work that you have available and I will post it..
The program is growing by the day; since I have not contacted you, it means that your pieces have not been requested yet.
