Loving the look of the 1940's

Last year I did a film set in 1940 and I have become a HUGE fan of the period. I love the clothing and the style that the women had in that era. I am going next weekend to a WWII-style dance and I have been putting an outfit together for two months. I have the dress, the shoes, the gloves and jewelry. I am ready, ready, ready! When I ordered the tickets I sent too much and ended up with two tickets. Anyone find this interesting? Send me a note.

Any Photographers out there?

I have this urge to do some photos. Something eerie and spooky and also some kind of film noirish. Trouble is: I can never find a photographer who is interested.

Hi,Silke, and All, I've posted in the forum discussion,"How Has Everyone Been Doing?" Of course,I've been forever very busy, not even nearly enough time to rest I've been sooooo busy! lol Well, in our family we got word that we think that this deal on this house that we're supposed to get is going to go through anyway, it's just this waiting that's driving Me nuts! lol So,in the meantime I still have to go through lots of stuff here to see what I want, and what I have to get rid of,and what I want to bring with Me! lololol If it sounds like I'm a nervous wreck, You guessed right! lol But,I guess almost everybody gets tense whenever you're about to move! I think I'LL be ok though!!!!!

Hi, Silke, Also I wanted to mention to you since You stated that You "LOVE" dancing, I believe that on Saturday Night, which would be on April the 26th, (sometimes the calendar is different) at World War 2 Weekend at Jefferson Barracks, they do have a 1940s Dance Party. You'll see all the World War 2 Reenactors there, and usually the place is packed! Also, sometime in the near future I will be joining Friends of Jefferson Barracks Park because my (Late) Great Uncle Louis Danz who fought in the Battle of the Bulge was buried there on July the 1st, 2003. I had never attended a Military Funeral before, and believe Me, on that day, it was a little more than I could take as You can probably imagine. So, in belonging to the Gateway Missouri Chapter VBOB, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge,(here is their/our website for future upcoming events at: www.gatewayvbob.org) and in having Louis at Jefferson Barracks, all the more reason to become much more involved. "SO", if I ever do see You in person, or atleast I'd think it was You, all I have to look for is a pretty Lady with Red Hair! lol

Thank You So Much For Writing, Kevin

Hi, Silke, I just finished adding 28 more pics to my WorldWar2Weekend_JeffersonBarracks_StLouisMo Yahoo History Group, out of 266 pics, and 152 more to go! lol I have set aside some pics from there that I will be posting in my photo album in here. I guess it's ok to post them, but they're really not under the category as being Artistic as much as they are as being Historical Reenactment photos. I'm now moving from my area near DeSoto up to St.Louis this coming weekend. I don't even know who I'LL be meeting first with any of the members of MySLART, haven't seen or read any recent posts when they have a get together, but I know we'll probably get a chance to meet in person sometime. Once I get settled in, I surely will continue my writings on here.

Sincerely Yours, Kevin Skypainter

Hello, Dear Silke,
Regarding your particular enthusiasm for the 1940s era, I also have another Yahoo Group on-line entitled: WorldWar2Weekend_JeffersonBarracks_StLouisMo
I wasn't so sure if I should have mentioned it or not, because this MySLART Group is mainly for Artists, but I'LL make this brief anyway. I'm also a descendant of a World War 2 Veteran that fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Ardennes, Belgium and Luxembourg in 1944-'45. Through him in 2003 I was accepted as an Associate Lifetime Member in the Gateway Missouri Chapter VBOB, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. So, I am an active member in this usually attending World War 2 Weekend towards the end of every April 24th, 25th, and 26th, which is a free yearly event. We have World War 2 Reenactors from all over, and many vendors tents, and like You, I am very interested in this era as well. I am also a free lance photographer in photographing all of the World War 2 Weekends at Jefferson Barracks in St.Louis, Missouri and have been taking photos there since 2004. My Yahoo Group on this has alot of photos to look at, and hope You would like to apply to join my group and for others who may be interested. For further info on our Gateway Missouri Chapter VBOB, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, the website is at: www.gatewayvbob.org Also, even though I was never a Veteran, I was honored by the World War 2 Veterans from England in being a Historian and a Military Aviation Researcher and Public Speaker on World War 1, Between the 2 World Wars, and on World War 2 Airplanes for over 20 years in 1994. You sound like a very interesting person, glad to meet your acquantance! Sincerely Yours, Kevin Skypainter
