About Me:
Molly Hill hails from Fenton, Mo (a suburb of St. Louis). She has had an interest in art since a young age. Attending the Kansas City Art Institute and graduating in 2001 with a BFA in illustration and design only furthered her interest in it. Molly is proficient in several 2d mediums : Pencil, pen and ink, marker, oil and acrylic paint, airbrush, automotive graphics, and pinstriping. Her latest adventure is taking her talents to the virtual using illustrator, photoshop and blender imaging programs. She also has dabbled in sculpture and ceramics. She has technical ability in automotive bodywork and painting, also upholstery and industrial sewing. Molly's work has appeared in DUB magazine, Car Craft magazine, and at the St. Louis Mardi Gras (2005).

If you're an artist/art student, don't forget to add a brief artist's statement and photos of three of your art works to either your "comment wall" or "text box." This is your basic St. Louis Art Directory information. Later you may add images, videos, post a blog, and much more.
Artist's statement: The open road! The sights and scenes along the way, dreams that seem to wander into reality. Born and raised in America these sentiments bring up wide open expanses of prairie with hazy grey mountains in the distance . Long stretches of road well suited for a 1950's droptop cadillac. Flamboyant neon signs of a bygone era enticing a weary traveler to rest for the night. Ornate lonely farmhouses and barns that have defied nature for more than 100 years. The tangle of steel against the sky that would otherwise be a rusty old truss bridge.. becomes art. Of course the most essential ingredient to a "road trip" is the automobile. Those of the 50's- '60's and sometimes 70's where rolling sculptures themselves, depicted in a minimalistic pop-esque style to both fully exhibit their sleek shapes and capture their free spirited attitude. Consistent with the theme are landscapes with stories to tell, sometimes reality, sometimes dreams that one would see along the way on their road in life. Also in my portfolio are earlier works dabbling with various subject matters, they are important to the development of this ongoing endeavor, which continues to blossom and transform. The art is created using both traditional and modern methods. Each piece stats out as an intricate hand drawn pencil line drawing and is put into the computer for it's "paint job" to create the brilliant color block images. Climb in, get comfy, buckle up and enjoy the view!
