The Inspired Art Project enlists local artists to create and submit original works, inspired by original poetry written by students participating in America SCORES St. Louis. Started by another SCORES affiliate in the Bay Area, the Inspired Art Project is an exciting national model for community collaboration.
On, March 20, 2010, the selected artwork will be collected and displayed at our annual Inspired Art Show. Proceeds from the event will support America SCORES St. Louis, a unique, comprehensive, youth development program which uses the tools of poetry, soccer, creative expression and service-learning to equip and inspire urban youth to lead healthy lifestyles, become engaged students, and grow into leaders for their schools and communities.
Interested artists need to register ASAP in order to submit their work to the event. Artists may choose to collect 25% of the final auction price for their work, or can donate all or a portion of the commission back to America SCORES St. Louis. Other artist benefits include:
• Free admission to the event (includes two complimentary drinks)
• Free guest tickets (up to 3) to the event
• Listing on our event website, www.inspiredartstlouis.org
• Listing in our event program

I teach high school graphic design and also do freelance Photoshop and Illustrator work on the side and love using that software for just about anything, whether I scan something and then do something to that or reimage photos of my own kids, etc.

- I think my fave pic is the boy on the ground with his Thomas. I can relate having three kids of my own. But having that pose of just chilling out on your back - really personifies what your artist statement says. I also agree with Matchick - wonderful use of the vintage effects on your pieces. not overdone. your sense of color is keen. do you photoshop the vintage feel or use old school techniques. and if so, could you enlighten me on what lab or devices you use?

Mississippi Valley Art Guild said… - Hi Missy Sue ... Sorry I didn't get back to you before now ... we had an exhibit this past week at a local historical house in Chester ... we encompass all of Randolph County & would like to invite all art guilds to join with us in Southern Illinois. There is a very good & active guild in St. Gen. MO, which is not too far from us (across the Mississippi), but we'd like to get this side of the river more involved. We have been an active guild for almost 3 years now & have now 15 producing, professional, or trained artists. Not all produce quickly, but all produce. We give all our artists as much advertising as we can & I'm in the process of getting our own web page active, in addition to affiliating with SLART, which is a good place.
We're all ages --all mediums & we do have lots of fun. What is your medium & location & background? I'm proficient in Acrylics, pastels, watercolor, some oil, carving & some photography. I've been in art all my life, but only a pro for the past 10 years or so. I also write (for myself & the very occasional publication) & I teach piano daily. I currently have 14 music students & they are a lot of fun--all ages.
I really like your comments on your page -- responded warmly to them -- you sound like a richly, delicious kind of person-- one that would be fun to be friends with -- both daring & not, humorous & insightful. I'll bet you have lots of friends & they adore you. I am Caroline & I am the Public Relations person for our guild--just means I love to talk & tht I like people.
PS -- I, too, love Warm Vanilla Sugar scent -- it is SO enriching (& it turns my sweetie on too.)
