About Me:
I create photographs to remind myself of how rich it is to experience being alive. I approach photography as a three-dimensional art in a two dimensional world. I see it as my job to build the visual layers of texture and color within the subjects. It is my deep desire for viewers of my work to walk away with a stronger sense of connectedness to the little things in our daily lives that make us feel whole and awake.

Many of the decisions I make while photographing are made to enhance the visual essence of the subject. Choosing lighting that will increase the contrast, texture and three dimensional appeal of a subject is the consistent visual goal of my work. Selecting alternative lighting sources (i.e. christmas lights, glow sticks, star lanterns, lava lamps, etc) to enhance the the viewer's experience of a subject continues to be a trend in my recent work.

After going through many life changes in the last two years, including becoming a mother and living in a new place, my recent work is rooted in many of the topics discussed in The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown: resilience, authenticity, connectedness, accountability, and deliberate living. I challenge viewers to observe my work with an open heart and a desire to use my photographs as a "conceptual shovel" to digging deeper inside of themselves to find opportunities that cultivate deliberate, healthy, and passionate lives.

If you're an artist/art student, don't forget to add a brief artist's statement and photos of three of your art works to either your "comment wall" or "text box." This is your basic St. Louis Art Directory information. Later you may add images, videos, post a blog, and much more.
