If an artist/art student, my primary medium or mixed media is:
I'm Erin, a fine artist living and working in St. Louis, Missouri. My primary medium is watercolor, which I love for its spontaneous, expressive qualities and range of color intensity. I paint primarily from photos I take—some photos come from my back yard, and others from places like Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, or the Coromandel in New Zealand!
Stylistically, I enjoy an intersection between realism and abstraction—many of my paintings pair a realistic subject with elements where I allow the paint to run a little wild. I focus mostly on natural themes, and I have a particular love of plants and landscapes. In my work, I examine floral shapes up close, and much wider, sweeping vistas of trees and mountains.
Nature is a gift, both inspiring and essential. As the saying goes, "There is no Planet B." I hope that my work connects you with the natural world and reminds everyone of the need to conserve and protect our earth.
