I am an:
Artist
If an artist/art student, my primary medium or mixed media is:
Sculpture, Ceramics, Assemblage, Drawing, Print Making, Jewelry
About Me:
At the age of 9, I responded to a “Draw the Cat” advertisement in the back of my mother’s ladies magazine. Shortly thereafter, a salesman came to our door to sell my parents an art instruction correspondence course. My parents listened politely and sent him on his way.

I held it against them for several years.

If you're an artist/art student, don't forget to add a brief artist's statement and photos of three of your art works to either your "comment wall" or "text box." This is your basic St. Louis Art Directory information. Later you may add images, videos, post a blog, and much more.
Art making for me is searching for the truth at the core of the human condition. My work integrates the architecture of the human form with the influences on that form by the concepts and ideas that inspire, connect, and reveal the internal workings of the human mind. Finding parallel idiosyncrasies between clay and human qualities, I strive to bring these parallels into form. I continue to research and discover, and work to merge the surface and the interior. While I work in a variety of materials, my preference is for the feel and sensitivity that is particular to clay. I work with multi-colored clays, resulting in pieces that retain their individual identity while complimenting the whole. I use stains and glazes sparingly to highlight and accentuate the natural beauty of the clay itself. When building my pieces, I recycle as much material as I can. Machine-fabricated perfection can be purchased at any retail outlet. I prefer surfaces, in my work and in the materials that I use, that bear the marks of the their past experiences.
