About Me:
Sometimes we have a gift and go through life not realizing it…then one day it comes to you. This is such a story of letting your passion come from the heart and sharing it with the world.

Carlos Rodrigus fell in love with music as a youth. His love affair with music has taken him on many journeys and now music has taken him on another exploration.

Growing up he learned to love music from his parents. His mother was his first teacher of music. Through her love for music, his developed. She would play music according to her mood. That’s when he learned the influence music had on person emotions. The right song can heal a wound or open a can of worm. His father was a connoisseur of music. He would listen to anything from salsa to country. His father would say “listen to the words and feel the melody, people are people they all have the same stories, they are just told a little differently”. The beauty of it all is how the story teller tells the story, and Carlos is good at creating a visual for the story. Some of his pieces truly bring out a physical reaction. Some of the pieces are to simple expose the viewer to a new genre of music. Looking at the colors and textures distract you from forming an opinion on the genre or the artist that sings it. The viewer will then read the words and discover that the song is truly poetry. The music is not present but the vibe is. After exploring one of his Carlos hopes that he has expose someone to the beauty of music

Whether you slang crack or corn, you drive a F150 or a Bentley you’re from the Bronx or Jackson Ms, your troubles and joys are the same. Carlos understands that and the power of music. All of his art is one of a kind and is driven by his love for music. Carlos understands music intuitively which gave him the idea to create UMI Art (understanding music intuitively).

Carlos,

My name is Nora Doyle, the Physical Education Coordinator at America SCORES St. Louis.

We’re hosting an art show and fundraiser on March 20, 2010, and would like for you to submit one or more pieces to our event. I’ve included some information below. Please contact me if you have any questions about the project. Thanks in advance!

The Inspired Art Project enlists local artists to create and submit original works, inspired by original poetry written by students participating in America SCORES St. Louis. Started by another SCORES affiliate in the Bay Area, the Inspired Art Project is an exciting national model for community collaboration.

On, March 20, 2010, the selected artwork will be collected and displayed at our annual Inspired Art Show. Proceeds from the event will support America SCORES St. Louis, a unique, comprehensive, youth development program which uses the tools of poetry, soccer, creative expression and service-learning to equip and inspire urban youth to lead healthy lifestyles, become engaged students, and grow into leaders for their schools and communities.

Interested artists need to register ASAP in order to submit their work to the event. Artists may choose to collect 25% of the final auction price for their work, or can donate all or a portion of the commission back to America SCORES St. Louis. Other artist benefits include:

• Free admission to the event (includes two complimentary drinks)
• Free guest tickets (up to 3) to the event
• Listing on our event website, www.inspiredartstlouis.org
• Listing in our event program
