Event Description

The Dolls Project documents a tragic tradition that has evolved in the City and the County of St. Louis, Missouri. Over the past 15 years or more, children and teenagers who have been mortally wounded in public places, on or near streets and thoroughfares, playgrounds and corridors have had makeshift memorials to them erected at those sites. Whether the death is by accident or intent, a shrine to the fallen child rises as a remembrance of the child and the place where the life has been cut short. The Dolls Project presents a photographic and video history of the communities in which these memori-als reside. It is a traveling exhibit that will reach into the actual communities and beyond.
