Event Description

Exhibit I: "Little World Fantasy" by Michael Frank
Media: oil & acrylics

About the "Little World Fantasy" Exhibit: In his paintings of landscapes and seascapes, local artist Michael Frank strives to create the impression of viewing a magical place while in a magical moment. The paintings in this exhibit are part of Frank's Little World Fantasy Series, which depicts birds, turtles, toadstools and fish against a mysterious fairy tale-like setting of forest brooks and waterfalls. The words "charming," "imaginative," "magical" and "delightful" all come to mind when viewing these vibrant, collectible works.

About Artist Michael Frank: A dedicated painter for more than 35 years and juried member of the Greater St. Louis Artist Association, Michael Frank finds his subject matter in his worldwide travels but mainly in his hometown of St. Louis. Forest Park and Shaw's Botanical Gardens offer him limitless inspiration for the subjects of his imaginative, magical, memorable paintings.

Exhibit II: "Radiance" by Steven L. Gorman
Media: painted ceramic sculpture

About the "Radiance" Exhibit: Steve Gorman's painted ceramic sculptures combine his love of painting with his passion for sculpting. The pieces in this exhibit are simplified natural forms that focus on mass and asymmetrical balance, airbrushed with colors inspired by painters Wassily Kandinsky and Georgia O'Keefe. Appealing and artistically designed, they are as engaging as they are collectible.

About Artist Steve Gorman: Following a 25-year career as an art teacher in Kansas City, Mo., Steve Gorman has pursued a full-time career as a sculptor. His work is in several public collections, including that of Southern Illinois University, as well as in many private collections.

Gallery Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. | Friday & Saturday,11 a.m.-9 p.m. | Sunday,1-5 p.m.
